The game was nonetheless a financial success. Its general faithfulness to the original game was praised, but its controls, bugs, short length, and lack of bonus features were criticized. Panzer Dragoon: Remake received mixed reviews from critics. Forever Entertainment also collected preorders for Panzer Dragoon: Remake sets, via their Forever Limited website. Physical copies of Panzer Dragoon: Remake by Limited Run Games were released for Nintendo Switch in late 2020, with a PlayStation 4 physical release planned and soundtrack for 2021. The remake was released digitally in 2020 for the Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4/5, Amazon Luna, and Xbox One and Series X/S.

Panzer Dragoon creator Yukio Futatsugi was not directly involved with the remake. Sega licensed Panzer Dragoon to Forever Entertainment, who wanted to preserve its gameplay while updating the visuals for modern audiences. It is a remake of Team Andromeda's 1995 video game Panzer Dragoon. Panzer Dragoon: Remake is rail shooting video game developed by MegaPixel Studio and published by Forever Entertainment.
